The 3rd Brain Origin Story

AI, Product Design, and Building for Real Life

I recently had the pleasure of joining my friend Andy on the Foreign Founders podcast, where we delved into my journey from arriving in the U.S. as a 19-year-old war refugee to co-founding 3rd Brain. We discussed the challenges and triumphs of building AI-powered solutions designed to enhance daily life.

Key Highlights from the Episode:

From Refugee to Ph.D.: I shared my path from community college to earning a Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Washington’s Information School.

The Birth of 3rd Brain: Together with my wife and fellow UW alum, Paige Collins, we founded 3rd Brain. Our mission is to revolutionize household management through AI, introducing “Bo the Brain” to help couples manage tasks and events seamlessly.

Insights on Human-Centered AI: We explored the importance of designing AI that truly serves people, emphasizing the need for technology to adapt to human needs and behaviors.

I hope this conversation offers valuable insights into the intersection of AI, product design, and the immigrant experience in the tech industry.

If you’re in a relationship, and want to try 3rd Brain, your first month is on me.
